easyHotel to open in Budapest
At a press conference in Budapest this morning Stelios the easyGroup chairman and founder of easyHotel announced that easyHotel would be opening in the Hungarian capital during the Spring of 2007. Rooms will be available from 29 euros per night and will be on sale at www.easyHotel.com in the near future.
Lawrence Alexander has been appointed CEO of easyHotel and will take up his position on 31 July. Lawrence has over 25 years experience in senior management positions within the hotel industry including Ladbroke Hotels, Merit Hotels (part of ILG) and Penguin Hotels prior to joining Jarvis Hotels in 1990. Lawrence was Commercial Director of Jarvis, which, as part of its portfolio of 5000 hotel rooms has held a Ramada franchise since 2001. As well as the core commercial skills of sales, marketing and revenue management Lawrence is also experienced in managing franchise relationships.
easyHotel is recruiting a CEO
With 15 businesses in the easyGroup and with recent big expansion at easyHotel, the latter now needs its own full-time CEO. Advertisements for the position will be appearing in the media starting this week.
London has a third easyHotel
easyHotel now has a second franchisee in London. The existing 40+ room TownHouse Hotel on the Earl's Court junction of the Cromwell Road will be converted into a 70+ room easyHotel with work commencing immediately. With an exact address of 44-48 West Cromwell Road this property will be known as easyHotel Earls Court and will be the most high profile of the easyHotel properties as it sits on the main road leading into London from the M4 and Heathrow Airport. This hotel will be operated by Queensway Hospitality a professional hotelier who are Holiday Inn franchisees as well as operators of independent hotels.
easyHotel has its first franchisee in London who will open the second easyHotel in the Capital
The Splendid Hotel Group has become the first easyHotel franchisee in London. The group will convert their property at 36-40 Belgrave Road, Victoria, into a seventy eight room easyHotel. Previously the property was the 50 room Easton Hotel hotel and will now undergo refurbishment, opening as an easyHotel towards the end of 2006. The easyHotel in Victoria will be the second easyHotel in London - easyHotel in Lexham Gardens W8, which is owned and operated by the easyGroup, opened in August 2005.
easyHotel has signed a Master Franchise Agreement with Istithmar Hotels, a subsidiary of Istithmar PJSC - an alternative investment house based in Dubai - to open a chain of 38 budget hotels across the Middle East, North Africa, India and Pakistan within the next 5 years.
