Amsterdam city centre can easily be reached by bike, car or public transport from your hotel, with stops right on your doorstep. If you have time to explore the city outside of any sporting or entertainment you might be enjoying during your stay, you’ll find a handful of interesting attractions to uncover. If art is your thing, spend a morning at the Van Gogh Museum before heading over to the Rijksmuseum to see some of Rembrandt’s greatest works. Or take a step back into the history of wartime life at Anne Frank’s House to see where the famous diarist documented her experiences.
Take a stroll through the Bloemenmarkt for a floral delight before continuing around to the trendy design neighbourhood of Jordaan with its beautiful houses and original storefronts. If visiting in April, make the most of the Tulip festival in all its glory and visit Keukenhof Gardens for a day, or hire a bike and explore the neighbouring fields in full bloom. If open spaces and nature are calling you, hire a bike or wander around Vondelpark and pack a picnic to enjoy an afternoon with friends.
